Founded by the Hong Kong Institute of Architects, the Hong Kong Architecture Centre is a brand-new interface between professional architects and the community with an aim to generate awareness and stimulate community’s interests in architecture and the built environment. Newly established in spring this year, the Hong Kong Architecture Centre is looking for a creative logo that captures its inspiring and outreaching objective. As a result, a logo competition was launched in August 2005.
Enthusiastic responses were received and a total of 66 innovative and creative entries were submitted from HKIA members, architecture graduates and students.
A judging session was held and the jury panel was impressed by the highly creative submissions and the passion for architecture exhibited by competitors. The major criteria for the winning logo was the effectiveness in embodying the inspiring and outreaching nature of our centre through a simple and powerful design. Other judging criteria include their uniqueness, practical applicability, depth, character and creativity.
After several rounds of selections, the winner of the logo competition goes to Mr. Tong Yee Hang, who is a practicing young architect in Hong Kong. The two 1st runner-ups are Ms. Chiu Hang Mei Mary Grace and Mr. Lee Wing Kwan. Ms Chiu is a practicing young architect, while Mr. Lee is currently an architecture student studying in CUHK.
The winner had received a honorarium of HK$3,000, a certificate and a life membership of the Friends of Architecture programme.
We would like to express our deep appreciations to all Jury Members for their judging and selections of the winning entries.. Last but not the least, our sincere thanks go to all competitors for their participation and for sharing with us their innovative and original submissions. |
