We are pleased to invite HKAC Members and friends to an exclusive guided tour of the "Estórias Lusas - Stories of the Hong Kong Portuguese" exhibition at the Hong Kong Museum of History, followed by a private visit and lunch at the historic Club de Recreio「西洋波會」.
In the mid-19th century, the Portuguese migrated from Macau to Hong Kong, becoming one of the earliest foreign communities to settle in the city. The Hong Kong Museum of History is currently hosting the special exhibition, "Estórias Lusas - Stories of the Hong Kong Portuguese," which features over 250 rare exhibits from Portuguese families and institutions, alongside 30+ interactive multimedia programs. The exhibition offers a vivid retrospective of the Portuguese community's history, daily lives, and profound cultural influence, showcasing their development across diverse sectors and their lasting contributions to Hong Kong’s politics, judiciary, economy, sports, botany, defense, and urban planning.
For this exclusive experience, we are honored to have the exhibition’s guest curator, Mr Francisco da Roza, to guide us and share his in-depth insights. Following the tour, members will enjoy a traditional Portuguese lunch at the Club de Recreio, immersing themselves in the unique heritage of this Grade 3 historic building.
